Sony X55es Cd Player Battleship Build Ex Condition
Up for sale here is my Sony X55ES CD player, if you,re reading this you probably know all about these superb players. Coming from a classic (late 80's - mid 90's) period when Sony really put together a superb series of reference players (including the famous X series). My particular model has the sought after rosewood side cheeks which is the more desirable model although from a purely cosmetic point of view as the inner workings are identical to the model without the wooden sides. Battleship build quality, over the top lavishly over engineered and weighing in at a staggering 15kgs!, massive full copper chasis, substantial copper shielding, no plastic all metal construction, twin power supplys, ceramic feet, etc, etc. Condition is superb, no marks or discernible scratchs to metal casework even on top plate, the protective plastic film on the rubber on the ceramic feet has never even been removed!, one of the direct track access buttons on the track selection pad sometimes sticks (no.5). I only noticed this when going through every single button on the fascia and I never used these buttons myself as I always used the scroll through buttons as I say most of the time it works fine, it effects nothing of the actual playing of the CD and this machine has never skipped, stuck or refused any CD, its a testament to these players build quality and ergonomics. The only cosmetic flaw is a slight lifting and cracking to the rosewood veneer on the bottom right corner on the right side cheek (see photo). I have taken plenty of photo's to give you a fair representationof the superb condition of this player. Plays everything you throw at it including Cdr's, rapid track access, all the usual Sony features, fixed and variable outputs, motorised volume pot, digital out (makes superb transport due to massive construction). Silky smooth rapid disc drawer operation, display is vibrant and bold in Sony's dot matrix pattern (can be turned off for improved sonics). This player has had light to medium use over the years as it was replaced as my main player and used in the spare room occasionally so laser life will not be an issue. Remote control was lost in a recent house move but these are readily available at little cost on e-bay etc and will respond to most Sony generic CD remotes (responds to my daughters remote for her Sony music centre!). Gives a lovely smooth open presentation to music with plenty of detail extracted from disc's and nice meaty bass in the lower registers, treble is smooth and liquid and has none of the glassy edge of some digital replay systems, sounds not unlike a good quality turntable. Loads more information on these players by googling them. Due to its sheer size and weight I have decided not to send overseas, Postage and packing to UK will be with insurance at a cost of £25.00, although collection from Rayleigh Essex is much preferred obviously. From smoke free home. Thanks for viewing and happy bidding. Any questions please ask. Sony X55es Cd Player Battleship Build Ex Condition
