VALVE SOUND

The quad 50D, like the Quad 50E, is fitted, most unusually for a transistor amplifier, with output transformers and many reviewers say this gives the 50D a "valve sound".

The only significant differences between a 50D and 50E are the facility for input attenuation and the power supply and signal input plugs - in all othe respects the 50D components are the same as the 50E components.

GAZEMBER MODIFICATIONS TO THE QUAD 50D

·        5,000 microFarad power supply capacitor replaced with 10,000 microFarad low ESR capacitor + an ultra low ESR polypropylene capacitor

·        driver board electrolytics replaced with low ESR electrolytics

·        peak power output increased from 50 watts RMS to 130 Watts RMS into 4 Ohms

·        quiescent currents and driver board voltage settings adjusted to Quad specifications

·        fully serviced

·        a twelve month parts and labour guarantee
