Quad 33 Pre-Amp and FM3 Tuner with Teak Case and Cables in very good condition!

This listing is for my matched set of Quad 33 pre-amp and FM3 tuner with the original, freshly-oiled teak wooden case in very good condition with a full set of new cables.  Both the 33 and FM3 show a production date of 23rd January 1979 inside the cases.  These items are reluctantly offered for sale to fund my next system upgrade.

The previous owner told me that the pre-amp and tuner were professionally serviced three years ago in 2008 and then placed into storage in a humidity-controlled environment until he sold them to me.  I have no reason to doubt this as they give a superb sound, warming up quickly and with all bulbs working and both channels sounding evenly balanced.  On inspection since I purchased them, the volume and tone controls all turn without any crackling sounds through the speakers and all inputs and selectors are working well.  The circuitry inside both units is visually in excellent condition, with no dust, heat damage or cobwebs!  The tuner picks up signals well once an FM aerial is connected and locks onto stereo signals easily.

The sound is absolutely superb, being sweet and melodic without any noticeable distortion or harshness present.  These items are mounted in the original factory-supplied teak wood case, which seems to be hard to find, but looks far more stylish than the standard metal boxes in my opinion.  The top face of the case has a few minor chips and scuffs at the back and on one side, which are almost unnoticeable now that the case has been carefully oiled using the correct teak oil.  All of the original mounting feet are intact on both sides of the case.

I have included a brand new 3m long power cable with the a fitted UK plug at one end and the correct 3 pin Bulgin mains plug at the other end, also included are a full set of brand new input and output cables worth almost £68, as listed below:-

1) 1m long Quad FM3 to Quad 33 cable

2) 2m long iPod to Quad 33 input cable

3) 1m long Stereo RCA/phono to Quad 33 input cable

4) 1m long Quad 33 to Quad 303/405 output cable

All of the above cables are professionally made, high specification audiophile cables from my own cable workshop.  I have also included the original mains power lead to link the FM3 to the 33 (this has a bit of white paint on the cable, but it is working well with no damage).  If you would prefer a 1m long stereo RCA/phono output cable (for use with a conventional power amp) instead of the Quad 33/303 cable listed above, please ask for this when you make your purchase and I will be pleased to exchange this cable for you at no extra cost.

I welcome any demonstration or inspection of the equipment (by appointment only please!) and I would strongly encourage you to listen to the items and view them in person before bidding.  I can set them up ready for you to listen to, so please feel free to bring either LP's, CD's or an iPod with your choice of music!

Once your payment has cleared, I will be pleased to arrange free delivery for UK mainland buyers (excluding Scottish Highlands).  If you prefer to collect the items in person, I am based at UK postcode LE13 (Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire) and this is the postcode where the items can be heard by appointment.  For mainland European buyers, the shipping cost (via insured express courier service) is £20, as per the item listing.  I will be happy to quote for shipping to other locations on request and I would ask buyers outside mainland UK or Europe to please confirm the shipping cost before bidding!
